I must admit, I have not used antivirus software in a really long time, probably because I am on a Mac and haven’t really felt the need to. Recently though, my mom got herself a new laptop, and since it isn’t a Mac, we figured it would need some sort of protection.
I am pretty much leaning towards using Sun Belt software right now. I like a fast computer. A clean, fast computer. But sometimes, it’s so hard to have both. Most antivirus programs bog down your computer more than a virus would, in my experience. I don’t like having to sacrifice speed for a clean computer.
Sun Belt software works like a charm, though. It doesn’t take up much resources while keeping your computer free of viruses, so you still get the speed you want. Just because it doesn’t hog resources though, doesn’t mean it isn’t effective. It’s got email protection, malware protection, everything. You could say they have a very proactive approach to protecting your computer. Oh, and no hidden credit card charges every year (don’t we all hate those?).
All in all, I think it’d be ideal for my mom’s netbook.
